Most people now-a-days would not even be able to believe that these are both Celicas. With such a generation gap, the only thing that they have in common now is that they are both Toyotas and share the Celica badge. The first generation celica was released to be the "cheaper" alternative to the incredible Toyota 2000gt. The seventh generation celica was released to bring younger buyers out in the United States. I believe the best comparison you can derive from these two long distance ancestors, would be that the 1st gen is RWD while the latter, FWD...
Any Competition here? 1st generation Celica FTW!!!
Came across this from cousin Justin just a few mins ago, and just had to post this up. So over at i-club.com, a few subaru guys were having small discussion about oldschool Jap cars..my favorite question,"were they rwd back then?"..haha... its funny to me, and should be to most other oldschool enthusiats... click here for the whole thread.
Oldschool fans everywhere will tell you that pulling the rubber over your "slightly" wider rim brings an odd sense of emotions. #1)You don't know if you should be worried about your lip or #2)the actual safety of doing this, but we all come to an agreement that its usually #1.... you have your 14x8.5 work equip 02's, and you wanted to see what some 185/45/14 would look on them... TyreStretch.com now has the answer.(pics included)
This past weekend, I went down to L.A to visit the family. Had lots of fun with the family, just as we always do. Luckily we took pictures this time. Here's a quick photo diary of our 2 days over in the City of Angels.
Bored out of ours minds in traffic on our way to get some food:
Quick drive through Beverly Hills, these were the only pictures that came out clear enough to even tell what they were. (sorry Iphone pics)
Cousin Chard took us to eat at the ever Most popular, Tito's Tacos. Some good shit man..
look at what we saw on the way home...
anyways, yeah, theres a quick glance at this past weekend with the Socal cousins.. By the way, if you were wondering what car we dipped around in...
This is me and my brother's project... A 1975 Toyota Celica. (Ra22) The car had a completely immaculate interior besides the small cracks on the top of the rear seats and small cracks on the dash. besides that, perfect headliner, perfect side panels, perfect seats, carpet, and dash console.
The Car was originally Green, as seen in these photos It also had the Vinyl top and side moldings which were removed.
We lowered the car with TRD springs in the rear, and rear eibach SW20(mr2) lowering springs in the front with koni adjustables. This is basically how the car sits now
The Celica originally came equipped with the 20r. This is the engine we have decided to swap for the 20r. The engine looked and was like crap, but we got it for steal. everything was pretty bad except the intake manifold, and turbo manifold. so $300 bucks was worth it.. This is what the engine looks like now Rebuilt block, rebuilt head. New Gaskets and seals from Toyota. stay posted for more to come....
Haven't posted anything in a while now, but lets look at this. East and West can mean a lot of things. In this case we can look at the differences between two cultures. Though not all instances may be true, but for some odd reason, some examples are true. Opinions Some could say that in some cases, this illustration could be vise versa
Way of Life The blue side concentrates more on the individual aspect, while red touches on community
Punctuality From the picture you can see that this talks about filipinos
Waiting Lines kinda true huh...
Restaurants we all know this is true.
Tourists see this at San Francisco all the time
Trends
How they perceive each other This one is my favorite.
See this blog right here?? This blog is dedicated to the happenings and misadventures of Miles Aquino; dealing with oldschool automobiles, all things nostaligic car, and the Back In Da Dayz crew
Back In Da Dayz, native to California's very own Bay Area.(With the exception of a few members) Basically a close nit of friends/fellow enthusiasts that share the love for old school automobiles. We ourselves don't claim to have started the old school movement, but we greatly feel that we are aiding the cause and have spread the era of old school rides to a new generation.
